Magnesium
Karma contains a superior, water-soluble form of magnesium that can be quickly absorbed into the blood stream. Magnesium is known as the anti-stress mineral, this key mineral is essential to the nervous system of the house.
Magnesium is used by the horse to regulate blood pressure to maintain a healthy, settled nervous system. It also helps to relax muscle. Magnesium is stored in the bones and in the gut; many sources of magnesium available to the horse are insoluble and therefore unable to easily pass into the bloodstream. When stressed, horses can quickly use up their available stores of magnesium.
Horses that travel long distances have benn found to be low in magnesium, which could explain why some horses become tense and excited at competitions. Many horses become more excitable in the spring, and this has been attributed to the rich spring grass, but it is also a fact that pastures tend to be low in magnesium in spring.
By giving Karma everyday horses can maintain a constant level of readily available magnesium that can quickly pass from the gut through to the bloodstream, helping nerves and muscles to operate correctly and the horse to better cope with life.
