Bad Boys Pas De Deux at the Winter Dressage Championships
Henry Boswell and Charlie Hutton perform a Pas De Deux special on their Grand Prix horses at the Winter Dressage Championships at Hartpury. Watch their performance in full, plus an interview with top young rider Henry Boswell.
Congratulations to our sponsored rider, Charlie Hutton and his horse, Abira, who won the Superflex Intermediate 1 Music Freestyle at Hartpury Arena, Gloucestershire, with a score of 72.42%.

Charlie said, “I was feeling nervous as it’s the first time I’ve competed him this year though I also felt it was his time to shine. This is my first big title with him.”*

Both Charlie and Henry Boswell did the Pas De Deux performance on the 2 performance nights; a routine to music choreographed by BD Rules and Fixtures Director Sara Green.

Amongst the first of the 30 Championships to be decided at this year’s British Dressage Winter Championships, Maria Griffin and D-J secured the Blue Chip Novice Open Winter Championship with a score of 73.45%, almost three percent ahead of the next placed combination in the field of 24 qualified horses.

Owned by Adrian Baker and Kathryn Thorpe, D-J was purchased for Maria at the Equine Elite Auction in Europe as a four-year-old and is now eight, but his progress to Champion hasn’t all been straightforward.

Maria explained that D-J had been out of work for two years, following a slip in the yard when he broke his back, saying “He is a very special horse, I am so lucky to have him bought for me and I am so proud to have won this competition, especially as it is sponsored by Blue Chip, which I have fed as it is great for improving condition without fizz.” MORE INFO…

International dressage rider Henry Boswell has made the smoothest of transitions into the senior ranks this season after a very successful Young Rider career, he and Grand Prix stallion Margue proving their credentials with wins at Grand Prix.
Henry and Margue appeared in the hugely popular ‘Pas do Trois’ at the Horse of the Year Show alongside Katie Price and her trainer Andrew Gould. There was little time to rehearse; Henry arrived at HOYS on Tuesday and produced a polished routine with Katie and Andrew, riding to Peter Andre’s ‘Mysterious Girl’, just three days later on the Friday.
