MORE INFO…

Charlie has been busy achieving scores of 73% and more to qualify for regionals – he currently has 6 horses qualified.

Charlie will be competing at the Hartpury & Hickstead Internationals next month, with Abira in the Small Tour and Don Dino going along for training purposes.  He will then be going to Nationals in September.

Blue Chip sponsored rider, Charlie Hutton, the rising young dressage star based at Ampney Knowle, enjoyed his moment under the spotlight at the world famous Horse of the Year Show in Birmingham.

.

Charlie underwent a training session in the Andrews Bowen International Arena with 3-time member of the British Olympic team, Richard Davison. He performed his new dressage to music competition piece whilst Richard talked the audience through the techniques and movements and offered valuable guidance to the riders to help them perfect their performance.

.

We wish them both the best of luck.

Amongst the first of the 30 Championships to be decided at this year’s British Dressage Winter Championships, Maria Griffin and D-J secured the Blue Chip Novice Open Winter Championship with a score of 73.45%, almost three percent ahead of the next placed combination in the field of 24 qualified horses.

.

Owned by Adrian Baker and Kathryn Thorpe, D-J was purchased for Maria at the Equine Elite Auction in Europe as a four-year-old and is now eight, but his progress to Champion hasn’t all been straightforward.

.

Maria explained that D-J had been out of work for two years, following a slip in the yard when he broke his back, saying “He is a very special horse, I am so lucky to have him bought for me and I am so proud to have won this competition, especially as it is sponsored by Blue Chip, which I have fed as it is great for improving condition without fizz.” MORE INFO…

When it comes to dressage, there’s no doubt that schooling and turnout are the two most time consuming aspects of successful preparation and getting them right means patience and hard work.

.

Three very successful dressage riders, who all feed Blue Chip, definitely know how to ‘get it right’ and provide an insight into managing schooling time and using effective turnout tricks.

.

Jo Bates, producer of top show horses, successful dressage rider, trainer and judge, says, “When you’re schooling, it’s important to concentrate like you would in a competition. Take time to get your transitions right and work on free, forward movement, with the poll the highest point. Horses should also be quick off the leg and you should be accurate, as correct circle diameters are essential for success.” MORE INFO…

20-year-old international dressage rider Charlie Hutton, already with many successes to his name, has just secured a new 3-year sponsorship deal for his string of horses from Blue Chip Feeds.

.

A member of the Junior Team in 2006 and 2007, Charlie was a member of the Young Rider Team in 2008 with Abira. This season he was again a Young Rider team member with Merlin Nemorensis (Nemo) and at the 2009 European Dressage Championships, the pair finished best of the Brits individually. Owned by Lady Ann Evans, Nemo is a 9-year-old Oldenburg by Clintino. MORE INFO…
