Sheffield High School six-formers, Katie Midgley and Alex Chester, both aged 17, are putting together a school equestrian team to compete in the National Schools Equestrian Association.

It is a completely new venture for the school and the girls have managed to secure sponsorship from a number of local companies.

In 2011 Trevor will be taking part in the Virgin London Marathon, to raise money for the Bobby Moore Bowel Cancer Trust. Trevor has worked as Horse & Hound’s photographer for more than 20 years, and we are delighted to be able to support him in his goal to raise £2000 for the charity.

Breeze arrived at the NAC; a bag of bones, crawling with lice, hooves cracked and broken, she barely had the strength to hold herself up. Our equine vet gave a very poor prognosis for her future and considering she was 29 years old we had little hope that this poor mare would recover from the years of abuse and neglect she had suffered.

However Breeze had other plans! She surprised us all with her tremendous courage and will to live and went on to make an astonishing recovery. Blue Chip Original was an important part of her feeding regime, providing her with all the necessary nutrients to grow strong healthy hooves ands a glossy coat. Her digestion improved greatly when Original was introduced. Breeze went on to live to the ripe old age of 34 and enjoyed every moment of her new life.

I’d like to thank you for producing such fantastic products.  I feed all my horses on Blue Chip Original and have seen visible results in each horse. My competition horses are looking and moving better than ever.  One of our mares used to get a lot of filling in her legs after being stabled. Since she has been fed on Blue Chip Original she no longer has ANY filling in her legs, even after a week of being stabled due to the bad weather.

One of the most visible differences I have seen using Blue Chip Original was in a pony I rescued.  He was very poor, and had a full winter coat in June, that was also very scurfy. He had no muscle and hardly any body fat.  He was generally very weak to the point were he was not only cow hocked but his hocks would also bend in-wards! Carriage driving requires the horse or pony to have good conformation as well as perfect health.  Topline and muscle tone is as important with carriage driving as it is with any other discipline – if a horse or pony is lacking topline, it will struggle to collect and will be more likely to suffer from an injury.  Lack of muscle tone, particularly in the shoulder region, will prevent the horse or pony from working to its full potential, as they pull from the shoulder to get the carriage moving. Blue Chip’s sponsored Western rider, Chris Dalton, has won the ‘All Round Youth & Reserve Open All Ages’ award at the AQHA UK end of year awards.

In becoming reserve in Senior, Chris also picked up reserve titles in Western Trail and Werstern Riding. In the Youth category he was Champion in Western Trail and  Showmanship and reserve in Hunter Under Saddle and Western Horsemanship. Chris missed quite a few AQHA shows this year due to showing in the USA and Germany and therefore, potentially dropped a lot of points.
