Chantelle Duggan and Rumworth Taylors Flight achieved one of every young rider’s dreams when they won the 2010 Blue Chip Junior Newcomers Championship at the Horse of the Year Show.

Rumworth Taylor’s Flight, known to his friends as Flicker, is one of three ponies and three horses owned by the family, who live in Pontefract and this was the biggest success of their career. However Charlotte is no stranger to the limelight, having won the Blue Chip Sapphire Championship at the Blue Chip Winter Show Jumping Championship with King Mac, where her prize also included Blue Chip Original feed balancer.

Chantelle is trained by her mum Margaret, herself a former show jumper and she rides for three hours every day after school, often in the dark!

Having started her affiliated show jumping career in 2003, Charlotte trust Rumworth Taylors Flight and their quick round against the clock was 2 seconds faster than the second place combination. “Mum told me to just turn him and kick on to the last fence, so I did. We had a perfect stride and he’s a very careful pony, which I think has developed from his experience in the Pony Club.”

Just a few lines to let you know how pleased I am with Albert’s performance following the introduction of Joint RLF into his feed in May.  He is definitely freer in movement – his joints must be more comfortable as he has a real spring in his step.  This season he has completed succesfully in all disciplines and I have introduced more jumping (only on a surface) as he is so keen.  I’m always being asked if he really is 25 and showing judges have said he looks much younger. Albert still has a lesson at least once a month and I will continue to take him to competitions throughout the winter months. I’m amazed at the difference Joint RLF has made – it’s worth every penny.

Katie Jerram, Blue Chip’s sponsored showing rider, won Supreme Champion at this years Horse of the Year Show. She impressed judges with her side-saddle freestyle show, and was fantastic to watch.

Blue Chip sponsored rider, Charlie Hutton, the rising young dressage star based at Ampney Knowle, enjoyed his moment under the spotlight at the world famous Horse of the Year Show in Birmingham.

Charlie underwent a training session in the Andrews Bowen International Arena with 3-time member of the British Olympic team, Richard Davison. He performed his new dressage to music competition piece whilst Richard talked the audience through the techniques and movements and offered valuable guidance to the riders to help them perfect their performance.

Fireworks season can be a frightening time for horses and owners alike. BHS have offered some tips that we thought we would share with you:

• Look at local press and local shops’ notice boards and listen to the radio to find out where the displays will be in your area.
• Wherever possible, tell neighbours and local firework display organisers that there are horses nearby, so they can ensure fireworks are set off in the opposite direction and well away from them.
• Decide whether to stable your horse or leave it in the field. It is sensible to keep your horse in its familiar environment, in its normal routine, with any companions to make it feel secure. If it is usually stabled, keep it stabled. If it is normally out in the field, keep it there as long as it is safe, secure and not close to the firework display area.
• If stabled, check thoroughly for anything that could cause potential injury such as protruding nails and string.
• If your horse is to stay in the field, check that fencing is not broken and that there are no foreign objects lying around. MORE INFO…

The girls from Blue Chip went on an exciting day out to Cumbrian Heavy Horses in the Lake District where they got the chance to gallop Clydesdale and Shire horses on a deserted beach.

Blue Chip aims to have as much customer contact as possible and when a day riding heavy horses was mentioned the girls jumped at the chance to meet Annie and her team of ‘heavies’, all of which are fed Blue Chip Pro.

The girls from the office, Sarah, Liz and Vicky along with Blue Chip’s founder Clare Blaskey, enjoyed a half-day beach ride in the stunning setting of the Lake District. Clare says “We decided to celebrate an excellent year with this fabulous experience. Everyone at Blue Chip has worked exceptionally hard making sure that the transition to Dodson and Horrell, our new distributors, went smoothly. I thought of taking everyone out for a meal to celebrate, but then thought lets do something really different and as we all ride this was perfect”. MORE INFO…

Molly Mouse hobbled into the NAC on appalling overgrown hooves. This tiny little girl was left for many years enduring the agony of laminitis and deformed hooves. Our farrier and vet recommended a diet rich in biotin but low in calories to help Molly Mouse recover from her ordeal. Blue chip lami light was fed along with hay and gradually her hooves returned to normal. Molly Mouse now lives with her foster mum who continues to feed her on blue chip lami light and is delighted with the condition of her hooves and her shiny glossy coat. Laminitis has become a distant memory for this little pony as she kicks up her heels and gallops across her paddock every day!.

We have been feeding Blue Chip Original for many years now and have had some fantastic results.  We find that Blue Chip adds condition without hotting up and all the ponies also have a fantastic shine without the need for any polishes, etc. This year we have had some great successes including Reserve Champion at the Royal International Horse Show, 7^th HOYS, Champion at NPS Dressage Champs, PUK Winter Champs, BSPS Winter Champs, NPS Champs, BSPS Summer Champs and also winning the Blue Chip M&M Competition Pony Final, all of which I can give credit to Blue Chip feeds.
