Archive for March, 2010

Our sponsored rider, Rachael Claridge has sent us an update as to what she’s been up to, and her plans for the near future.

.

“I am having a slightly slower start to my endurance season this year following our accommodation move, but hope to get started at the end of April now that they are both very settled into their new yard and Charlie looks stunning now he’s been fully clipped. I felt mean clipping his head out when he lived on the edge of Bodmin Moor! MORE INFO…

Blue Chip Karma

Local Rider Magazine Comment:

“This is a fantastic product, which will help to keep your horse cool in all situations.”

Blue Chip’s scientifically advanced liquid Karma is proven to be amazingly effective on a wide range of horses and ponies, producing consistent improvements in temperament, trainability and performance, without compromising alertness.

“The 100% natural ingredients in Karma include the superior, water-soluble form of magnesium – known as the anti-stress mineral – which can be quickly absorbed into the blood stream. When stressed, horses can quickly use up their available store of magnesium and so will potentially benefit form a readily available water-soluble source.”

“After a fantastic 2009 season Eventing, Temperament and I are very pleased to have received another years sponsorship from Blue Chip horse feeds.  Temperament is fed Blue Chip Pro and Blue Chip Dynamic, I really believe that Blue Chips products have improved his stamina, recovery rates and overall performance resulting in top 10 placings at international events.  Temperament and I look forward to 2010, with support from blue chip and there nutritional team.”

.

Nicola also informed us of some more good news;

“British Dressage phoned up and asked me to guinea pig for them at their dressage to music convention in March!  They got my contact details through my trainer who recommended me, so that’s very good news.  I have had confirmation of my training day for the European 2* Squad, 6th April, and my first event is March 20th, so its all go!  I have just gone part time at work with the ambulance service, and set up my own business NJ Eventing, freelance event rider.”

When Sara Jane Oglesby’s mare Lucy Glitters was kicked on the hock by another horse, vets were not hopeful of a recovery as the injury was extensive, almost severing the medial ligament in her hock.

.

Although assured that she would never ride Lucy again, Sara didn’t give up and the treatment started with three months in a cast and box rest that continued for almost six months. She explains, “The vet visited three times a day initially and as her recovery progressed, Lucy had to be forced to walk to ensure she stretched the ligaments and tendons in order to regain a normal range of movement. Despite the pain she was evidently suffering, Lucy never gave up battling and bravely made a full recovery. MORE INFO…

International event rider Kristina Cookis acknowledged as a skilled producer of young event horses and at this time of year, when many riders are introducing young horses to cross country courses, we have asked Kristina to share her tips on building experience and confidence in a natural, easy way.

.

Kristina’s recent tally of international medals includes Team and Individual gold at the European Championships and Team and Individual bronze at the 2008 Olympics, all with her talented ride Miners Frolic, who is fed Blue Chip Pro, the nutrient dense feed balancer for the fit performance horse and Blue Chip Joint RLF, the award winning liquid joint supplement.  MORE INFO…

“I like feeding Cocoa Lami-Light because it stops her getting laminitis, which helps a lot because Cocoa loves grass, Cocoa also loves to eat Lami-Lights as well, she just can’t get enough. Lami-Light keeps Cocoa healthy and happy, and that is why I like to feed Cocoa Lami-Light!”

Megan

“I would like to thank yourself and the team at Blue Chip for all your kind support RE Lucy Glitters winning the Equestrianclearance.com Horse Hero of the Year Award. I have been very fortunate to be associated with such an honour and as I have already stipulated before, feel I could not possibly have reached this far without the nutritional aid of Blue Chip Original. I would also like to say a very big thank you to Jem for kindly coming to see Lucy receive her prizes, and in such awful weather! I appreciate how busy he must be and thoroughly enjoyed the in-depth conversation we had reference your product(s).

“My success with Lucy’s rehabilitation and others before her, has encouraged me to rehabilitate, re-school and re-home horses on a full time basis. I hope to turn what started as an enjoyable hobby into a full-time career for myself.

“Once again a big thank you to you all, I very much look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your continued support and advice.”

Sara-Jane Oglesby

Lami1Susceptible to laminitis
Current research shows that ponies and horses prone to, or recovering from laminitis, should not be starved, but can be assisted by nutritional support. As part of a restricted diet the ingredients specially incorporated into Lami-light do just that. Lami-light may help your pony or horse to become calmer and less stressed even when on controlled grazing or confined to the stable. If you suspect your pony or horse has laminitis, veterinary advice should be sought immediately. With increasing knowledge as to how and why this crippling condition occurs and the help of your vet and farrier – plus the part modern nutrition can play in recovery – your pony or horse now has a greater chance of continuing to lead a sound, active life. lami31. Manage your horse’s weight: Keep your horse fit and slim. Laminitis has been linked to insulin resistance and by keeping your horse slim, the risk of insulin resistance is lowered.

.

2. Feed a low starch, low sugar diet: Nutritionally triggered laminitis can be due to excessive starch in the diet, or a high intake of fructan from grass. These simple sugars are highly fermentable in the hind gut of the horse and can cause high acid levels. MORE INFO…
